Chris and Lee travel to Eton Wick to help Andrew and Angela revive their Victorian cottage garden. Once lovingly maintained, it has now fallen into neglect, with a rotten pergola, a decaying arbour seat and overgrown borders in need of care. The uneven, rough surface also makes the garden unsafe and inaccessible for their young son William.
Andrew and Angela dream of putting their own twist on a traditional Victorian cottage garden with timeless tranquillity and modern functionality. They want to create a beautiful, low-maintenance space that鈥檚 also accessible for William, who relies on outdoor time because of his disabilities. The garden will feature smooth, accessible pathways, strategic seating areas and a calming, interactive play zone designed with William鈥檚 mobility in mind. A secluded corner filled with soothing plants and comfortable seating will offer the family a place to unwind and reconnect after hospital visits and busy days.
Andrew and Angela met while on holiday in Dublin and have shared a love of travel ever since. Angela, originally from America, and Andrew, a seasoned world traveller himself, settled down when she became pregnant, buying their home to start a family. But life soon took an unexpected turn when their son William was born prematurely with a rare condition, bilateral tibial hemimelia, causing severe malformations in both legs and feet. Their renovation plans were put on hold as hospital visits, surgeries and recoveries became part of everyday life. Earlier this year, William underwent an amputation of his right leg and is now learning to walk confidently with his prosthetic. Three further surgeries on his left leg are planned, with more likely into his early twenties.
Despite these challenges, Andrew and Angela remain optimistic and determined to create a safe, tranquil and joyful outdoor space where William can play and the family can relax together.
Can Chris and Lee craft a Victorian haven garden, one that blends charm, accessibility and serenity, on a 拢6,000 budget?
