The arrival of HM Queen Elizabeth II - accompanied by HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales - marked a break with tradition as, by not arriving last, the Queen gave precedence to Churchill himself. Queen Elizabeth II had granted permission for Churchill to receive a state funeral in 1960.
