The 10th edition of the Biennale of African Photography, also known as Bamako Encounters, is taking place in the Malian capital, after a four year gap as a result of the 2012-2013 political crisis.

The artistic director of the biennial is Nigerian curator Bisi Silva. When Sasha Gankin met her in Bamako, he asked her why the theme for this edition is Telling Time.
