South Africa: 'key' local elections approach
South Africans go to the polls on Wednesday 3rd August for local elections, said to be the most hotly and violently contested for over twenty years.
Some opinion polls are forecasting a close fight between the governing ANC and opposition Democratic Alliance in big urban centres like Johannesburg and Pretoria. Polling data also indicates that the ANC could even lose control of the capital.
The 麻豆社's Nomsa Maseko has been hearing from disenchanted former supporters of the ruling ANC party.
