King Sunny Ade's musical journey
Nigerian musical superstar King Sunny Ade popularised Nigerian juju music abroad in the 1980s.
Signed to Bob Marley's record label, King Sunny was promoted as 'The African Bob Marley'. But, unhappy with this moniker and with the Americanisation of his music, King Sunny soon quit and returned home to Nigeria, where he remains today one of the country's best loved musicians.
He's currently on a US tour and the 麻豆社's Leslie Goffe spoke to him in New York.
