A new film from poet Kewulay Kamara tells the story of a prized manuscript that was destroyed during civil war in Sierra Leone which documented the lives of the Mandeng People. They've lived for thousands of years in the northeast of the country in Dankawali village.

The film called, In Search of Finah Misa Kule: The Story of a People Who Live by the Word" chronicles the efforts Kamara, who was born in Dankawali but now lives in New York, made to restore the lost manuscript and celebrate the role poet-historians, or finas, played in African village life.
