Socially conscious African rhythms
What do you get when you fuse African rhythms with hip hop and add a dash of Caribbean flavour? You get something like Native Sun, a London-based duo consisting of bilingual rapper Mohammed Yahya, born in Mozambique, and singer-songwriter Sarina Leah, born in London with Caribbean roots. Ahead of their appearance at London's Focus Africa Music Festival they spoke to the 麻豆社's Kim Chakanetsa.
