The Modern Role Of A Traditional King
When Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi became the Ooni of Ife - the pre-eminent traditional Kings amongst the Yorubas in Nigeria - it caused a major stir. He was the youngest traditional monarch in the southwest region and promised to bridge the gap between modernity and traditionalism. He's recently given a talk here in London at Chatham House about the role of traditional Kings and has also just returned from Silicon Valley where he's been lobbying the tech industry to help boost jobs among youth in Nigeria.
