The 'open conflict' between Algeria and France
President Macron of France concluded his tour of African countries in Algeria this week. President Macron said his stated aim was to reshape the relationship between France and Algeria.
But what does Algeria want from its relationship with France? Akram Kharief, who owns and runs the MENA Defense news site in Algiers told Focus on Africa's Audrey Brown that Algeria wants France to stop treating it as a rival or potential enemy.
Mr Kharief said there is also an "open conflict between Algeria and France" over how to deal with the Sahel region.
