The mayor of Lusaka, Miles Sampa, has caused a social media stir after he posted pictures of himself with a gun, with a message that read: "This is how I will be reporting for field and office work. In case the police delay in protecting me, I am equal to the task."

The mayor took to Facebook to speak about how he was threatened by a group of "drunk thugs" after he went to investigate complaints about illegal constructions on plots of land.

The Facebook post has since been deleted.
