Have you heard of 'onlyness'?

The term 'onlyness' was coined relatively recently by Nilofer Merchant - an American academic of Indian heritage. It鈥檚 the phenomenon of how it feels to be the only person with a certain characteristic, perspective or life experience in a group - usually in a work setting. It can apply to a woman because of her gender, because she鈥檚 a mother, her ethnicity or background. What is the impact of onlyness and why does it matter?
