Sierra Leone's Bio: 'This cannot be allowed to continue'
Sierra Leone's President Julius Maada Bio has declared the prevalence of rape and sexual violence in the country as a national emergency.
According to police statistics, recorded cases of sexual and gender-based violence almost doubled last year, reaching over 8,500.
President Bio told Umaru Fofana that every means within the law will be used to stop the offence.
