“Covid-19 lockdowns have exacerbated gender-based violenceâ€
On the first of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence taking place in several African countries, Focus on Africa's Esau Williams speaks to Professor Joy Ada Onyesoh. She’s president of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, based in Nigeria. Professor Onyesoh says that lockdowns imposed to restrict the spread of Covid-19 led to an increase in cases of violence against women in some countries.
