'I've spent four decades not knowing who I am.'

Author Holly Smale finally got her clinical diagnosis of Autism at the end of last year - aged 39. The 'congratulations' she received from her psychologist felt right after years of thinking she was 'broken'.

Women and girls often find it more difficult to get a diagnosis. Since finding out, she has announced that Harriet Manners (the character in her Geek Girls series) is also autistic.
