Tanzania's President, Samia Suluhu Hassan has introduced a scheme that allows pregnant girls and young mothers to continue their education. In 2017 the late President John Magufuli banned pregnant girls and young mothers from attending state school. This scheme allows them to attend classes via 54 Folk Development colleges (FDCs), sit exams and if successful go back to formal education. Before today, the Faraja Young Women Development Organisation in Arusha has been helping them. Focus on Africa’ Bola Mosuro spoke to Martina one of the founders of the organisation and one of the beneficiaries of the scheme.
