Michaela Coel: 'I remember feeling like people found me disturbed'
The creator and star of award-winning 麻豆社 drama I May Destroy You describes how people thought she was 'crazy' and 'unhinged' turning down a million-dollar deal with Netflix.
Michaela Coel spoke to Emma Barnett on Woman's Hour about her new book Misfits: A Personal Manifesto, which follows on from her MacTaggart lecture at 2018's Edinburgh Festival exploring themes of money, exploitation and empathy in the TV industry.
In the full interview on 麻豆社 Sounds she discusses giving that lecture, getting closure on her own sexual assault, having social media boundaries, putting period sex on screen and much more.
