Here’s why you should be exercising your pelvic floor and exactly how to do it
Elaine Miller is a pelvic physiotherapist who is so passionate about getting women to do their pelvic floor exercises she does stand-up comedy about them, wearing a giant vulva costume.
While a lack of both time and knowledge means many women ignore the need to do the exercises regularly, they can help prevent a surprising number of problems in later life.
Elaine tells Woman’s Hour’s Jessica Creighton why she wants all women - babies or no babies, young or old - to count-down to Christmas with a daily squeeze and lift.
So what’s the best technique? Keep listening to the end for instructions and a couple of ingenious (and hilarious) visualisation prompts to guide you.
