Lawyer confirms Ugandan prize-winning author has been arrested
Ugandan author Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, who won a prestigious prize this year for courageous writing, has been detained by police, his lawyer has confirmed.
Lawyer Eron Kiiza says he was on the telephone to the author as police broke into his home and arrested him. He says no-one has been allowed to speak Kakwenza Rukirabashaija since, and no reason has been given as to why he is being held.
