Lesia Vasylenko: 'I cut off all my nails to be able to use the guns I have'
Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko is sheltering in a basement in Ukraine along with her family.
She told Jessica Creighton on 麻豆社 Radio 4's Woman's Hour how she has been trained in the past few days to use an assault rifle and other weapons to defend herself and her country.
Lesia revealed that it was her father-in-law who taught her how to use two weapons and she says that if the time comes where she has to pull the trigger, she will.
To hear her whole interview as well as important context from Ukrainian historian Dr Olesya Khromeychuk on women currently serving in the Ukrainian armed forces, head to 麻豆社 Sounds and listen to the 28 February Woman's Hour podcast episode.
