The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has come to its end. Established in 2007, the mission was expected to last six months to help contain an Islamist insurgency that is still destabilising the eastern African country. In the end, the mission lasted 15 years. Today, on the eve of tense Presidential elections, AMISOM has changed its name and mandate. The new African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) aims to hand over security matters to Somalia by 2024. Will it succeed? The 麻豆社's Victor Sylver asked Dr. Mustafa Yusuf Ali, Co-founder and Chairman of the Horn Institute.
