‘They could tell me about things they also found challenging about being that sexuality’
More than 1 in 10 young women in the UK now identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or other, according to the ONS population survey. The largest group of those not identifying as heterosexual – 7.6% – say they are bisexual.
Dr Julia Shaw is a psychologist with University College London, part of thinktank Queer Politics at Princeton university and co-host of Âé¶¹Éç podcast Bad People. She spoke to Emma Barnett about her new book Bi: The Hidden Culture, History and Science of Bisexuality, which combines her own experiences of being bisexual and her background in the psychological sciences.
