Nothing 'immoral' about UK asylum plan says Rwanda
Rwanda's government spokesperson Yolande Makolo has defended the UK's policy to deport illegal migrants arriving from across the English Channel to Rwanda. Ms Makolo says her country has been preparing to receive people since the Rwanda-UK asylum plan was signed in April. The first flight is expected to leave the UK on Tuesday, 14 June.
While acknowledging that the deal includes investment that will go towards the country's economic development, Ms Makolo told Focus on Africa's Esau Williams Rwanda is proud of its "partnership" with the UK and that there is nothing "wrong" or "immoral" about relocating migrants to another country.
