DRC protests: ‘Our people are just exhausted’
DRC government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya tells Focus on Africa that people in North Kivu are frustrated by persistent insecurity. It follows deadly protests in Goma and Butembo, during which UN peacekeeping soldiers killed civilians. The Congolese government wants the UN’s MONUSCO mission to speed up its planned withdrawal from the country, which is scheduled to be completed by 2024.
