Ghanaian comedian Lassu on becoming a TikTok star
Jackline Mensah, aka Lassu, is one of Ghana's rising stars - thanks mainly to the social media app, TikTok.
The stand-up comedian and actor rose to fame during her country's Covid-19 lockdown period, when videos of her impersonating celebrities went viral. Jackline is one of the first Ghanaians to make a good living off the Chinese app, leading many to refer to her as the 'TikTok goddess'. Not surprisingly, as Focus on Africa's Mark Wilberforce found out, the app takes up a huge amount of her time, as she says: "I do TikTok 24/7."
