Spoken Word artist Jainaba Touray wins award for her storytelling
Sixteen young writers in The Gambia were recently given accolades for their contribution to a project to expand the country's precious heritage of storytelling, poems and history writing. Jainaba Touray was one of them.
The awards were organised by the Young Writers' Association of The Gambia, and Jainaba won the Spoken Word Poetry category. She has been speaking to Omar Wally in Banjul about what inspires her work, but above all, she says "I need to have the zeal to want to write."
