As part of our special edition of Focus on Africa with guest editor, Professor Thuli Madonsela, we speak to Professor Nox Makunga of Stellenbosh University about the importance of Africa鈥檚 medicinal plants. Many of these plants have contributed to the development of the drugs that we all use around the world. South Africa is one country creating frameworks to commercialise such plants, and scientists are also working to profile and test their efficacy.
