Kenya's University of Eldoret has recently introduced stricter guidelines for students on how they should dress. Mini skirts, skin-tight trousers, ripped jeans, low-cut blouses, micro shorts, off-shoulder and sleeveless t-shirts and dresses are some of the forms of clothing that the university considers inappropriate and have banned. In recent years, universities in Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Uganda have also enforced similar rules and included jewellery and body piercings. Earlier in January, another Kenyan institution, the Kenya Methodist University (KeMU), caused a stir when they not only issued a memo with a stricter dress code, but also barred male students with dreadlocks or plaits.

Two students from KeMU, Enosh - who welcomed the move, and Joy - who thinks the rules are excessive, debated the issue with Focus on Africa's Bola Mosuro.
