Angélique Kidjo on winning Polar Music Prize: "I thought it was a hoax"
The Benin-born singer, Angélique Kidjo, has won the prestigious Polar Music Prize. She is the third African, after Youssou Ndour and Miriam Makeba to win the prize. The UNICEF ambassador is also a five-time Grammy winner. Veronique Edwards, has known Angélique Kidjo for about thirty years and called up her old buddy for a congratulatory chat.
