Ghanaian activist swims Volta River to draw attention to waste
Ghanaian activist, Yvette Tetteh, is swimming the length of Ghana's Volta River – all 450 kilometres of it - to highlight the issue of textile waste. Imports of second hand clothing to Ghana, popularly referred to as 'Obroni Wa-Wu' is taking its toll on the country's water systems. Yvette, a business entrepreneur, athlete as well as activist, is also collecting water samples along the way to test for pollution. She spoke to Focus on Africa's Esau Williams about this latest expedition, and says swimming brings attention to water bodies and water quality.
