Husbands for hire in Uganda?
The Deputy Mayor of Kampala has announced on Twitter that she will stand in Uganda鈥檚 2026 presidential election.
Online platforms are a key component of Doreen Nyanjura鈥檚 campaign strategy but her presence there comes at a price. She told Newsday: 鈥淚鈥檝e faced a lot of backlash. First because I鈥檓 a female鈥econd because I鈥檓 a young female politician鈥hird because I am not married and that raises a lot of eyebrows鈥here are so many young women who are fearing to offer themselves for leadership because they are going to be questioned on why they are not married. I know many that have even hired husbands.鈥�
