Talking Movies French Cinema Classics: 'Hiroshima Mon Amour'
As the threat of global conflict hangs over the world again in 2024, one French film from 1959 continues to bring a stark reminder of the horror of war - 'Hiroshima Mon Amour.'
The film, directed by Alain Resnais and written by Marguerite Duras, is the story of two lovers in the aftermath of the bombing of the Japanese city of Hiroshima. It stars Emmanuelle Riva, who would become cherished by a new generation of audiences in 2011 for the film 'Amour.'
It's the choice of renowned film professor Annette Insdorf of Columbia University. She and Tom Brook from Talking Movies tell us more.
