Why are there no bridges in East London?
London's newest river crossing, the Silvertown Tunnel, has opened to the public.
It's cost 拢2.2bn and stretches almost a mile under the Thames from Greenwich to Newham next to the Blackwall Tunnel.
Silvertown Tunnel is now the fourth road river crossing east of Tower Bridge - but if you look at a map, you'll notice there are far more Thames crossings in the west of the capital.
