How has London changed for the capital's oldest cabbie?
Lawrence Opher has been behind the wheel of a Hackney Carriage since 1959, making him London鈥檚 oldest black cab driver. It's safe to say he's seen the city change a fair bit during his working life.
A new film called 'The Knowledge' has documented Lawrence's life as a cabbie, along with his son and grandson, both called Lawrence, both Black Cab Drivers. It paints a rich, emotional portrait of a fading tradition鈥攚here knowledge, community, and identity are passed down through the driver鈥檚 seat.
麻豆社 Radio London's Gary Crowley has been speaking to the director of the film (and Lawrence's Great-Nephew) Max McGee about it.
