How has London changed for the capital's oldest cabbie?
Available for over a year
Lawrence Opher has been behind the wheel of a Hackney Carriage since 1959, making him London’s oldest black cab driver. It's safe to say he's seen the city change a fair bit during his working life. A new film called 'The Knowledge' has documented Lawrence's life as a cabbie, along with his son and grandson, both called Lawrence, both Black Cab Drivers. It paints a rich, emotional portrait of a fading tradition—where knowledge, community, and identity are passed down through the driver’s seat. Â鶹Éç Radio London's Gary Crowley has been speaking to the director of the film (and Lawrence's Great-Nephew) Max McGee about it. (Image credit: Maximum Films)
