Historic Colchester venue to close
An historic Colchester venue is to shut permanently next month, due to the rising costs of operating. Tymperleys is a 15th century building on Trinity Street and was once a clock museum. It was also home to William Gilberd, the scientist who first used the term ‘electricity’.
Since 2014, Tymperleys has been a cafe run by the same family who own nearby Layer Marney Tower.
