Historic Colchester venue to close
Available for over a year
An historic Colchester venue is to shut permanently next month, due to the rising costs of operating. Tymperleys is a 15th century building on Trinity Street and was once a clock museum. It was also home to William Gilberd, the scientist who first used the term ‘electricity’. Since 2014, Tymperleys has been a cafe run by the same family who own nearby Layer Marney Tower. Lee Scordis is the Labour councillor overseeing culture, heritage and environment on Colchester City Council... Picture credit: Stephen Huntley/Â鶹Éç.
