Emily Bentham, from Enham Alamein near Andover, is one of the finalists in the Animal category in the 麻豆社 Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards for 2025.

Since the age of 13 Emily has run her own animal sanctuary from her back garden and has created a self-funded, mini sanctuary, with purpose-built sheds and aviaries.

麻豆社 Radio Solent's Helen Head has been to meet her.

The Animal Award: awarded to either a remarkable animal that improves people鈥檚 lives, or an individual or group of people who improve the welfare of animals.

The Make a Difference Awards are your chance to say 鈥淭hank You鈥� and show recognition and appreciation for people who love to make life better for others.

Nominations for the 2025 awards have now closed and finalists have been selected by a panel of judges.

The winners will be announced at our 麻豆社 Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards ceremony in September.
