Good morning. Plans for a new secondary school in Perranporth have been cancelled by the government.
Currently, pupils from Perranporth and St Agnes have to travel to schools in Truro and Newquay, but these schools are now getting full.
Cornwall Council hoped that the new school would be open by September 2026, but following a review by the Department for Education, the government decided that "there is not sufficient need for additional places to justify building a whole new school".
The chief executive of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust commented that Cornish children, families and communities would be worse off as a result of this decision.
And Cornwall Council said that they would send more information to the government to challenge its position on this matter.

A charity which provides food to families in need in Cornwall and Devon has said that it is extremely busy as Christmas approaches.
FareShare South West takes good food that would be thrown away by farmers and supermarkets, and distributes it to schools, community groups and other charities.
Deputy chief executive of the charity, Josie Forsyth, said: "One-in-four children are in poverty in Devon and Cornwall, and at Christmas time that means either choosing heating your home or providing the meal the children need to thrive."
Volunteers working with community groups can also receive food at discounted prices.
According to the government, over the last five years, the price of food increased by more than 37%.

The charity Wild Planet Trust has announced that Newquay Zoo, together with its sister zoo in Paignton, would be sold to Dutch company Lib茅ma.
The CEO of Lib茅ma, Dirk Lips, said that he planned to invest 鈥渁t least 拢10 million鈥 in the zoos over the next two years.
Lib茅ma already owns four zoos in Europe and, among other plans, it hopes to create a savanna for giraffes and keep rhinoceroses at Paignton.
It will begin managing the zoos on New Year鈥檚 Day next year and, although the zoos will no longer be managed as charities, Mr Lips said that Lib茅ma would continue to promote 鈥渁nimal welfare, education, research and conservation鈥.
And that鈥檚 all from me for this week. Until next time!
