Burkina Faso is aiming to create a Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland force to help fight Islamist extremists.

Burkina Faso's military rulers have launched a drive to recruit tens of thousands of civilians for a new force called Volunteers for the Defence of the Fatherland, to help fight Islamist extremists.

A new report has identified the west African region as the global hub of illicit fishing activities affecting the livelihoods of communities in many parts of Africa.

And one of The Gambia鈥檚 youngest music stars, Awa Gambia, has just released her debut album. She tells us why she decided on the title Taking Over.
