Severe flooding hits parts of southern Africa

A national disaster has been declared in South Africa.

South Africa has declared a national state of disaster over severe flooding, while heavy rains have also hit Mozambique鈥檚 capital Maputo.

Kenya鈥檚 military and police have launched a security operation against armed bandits in the northern Rift Valley region.

Due to the shortage of the new Naira banknotes in Nigeria, the Central Bank has announced the making of money bouquets, used by some in celebrations, will attract a fine or imprisonment.
