Tunisia’s president Kais Saied has been accused of racism, after saying an increase in immigration was part of a plot to change the country’s demographics.
Tunisia’s president Kais Saied has been accused of racism, after saying an increase in immigration was part of a plot to change the country’s demographics. The president’s office issued a statement calling for “urgent measures” to tackle “hordes” of migrants arriving in the country from Sub Saharan Africa. Dozens of foreigners living in Tunisia have been arrested in a crackdown this month.
Plus, the former president of Burkina Faso, Thomas Sankara, has been reburied in the capital Ouagadougou. The decision to remove his remains has divided the late revolutionary leader’s family, with some relatives refusing to attend the reburial ceremony on Thursday.
And Nigeria’s election campaign comes to an end ahead of Saturday’s vote, with the candidates in the race making their closing arguments to the electorate.
