South African MPs are outraged after a key parliamentary committee hearing about a high-risk prisoner who broke out of jail, had to be postponed because representatives of the British-owned security company G4S failed to turn up. Convicted serial rapist, Thabo Bester, was thought to have died in a cell fire but DNA tests revealed that the recovered corpse was not him.

A court in Zimbabwe has found the spokesperson for the main opposition party, the Citizen's Coalition for Change, guilty of spreading false news and undermining the authority of the police.

And the pilot who had to deal with a real-life snake on a plane in South Africa, says he could see the deadly reptile鈥檚 tongue flickering about, but had to remain calm.
