Senegal opposition leader handed prison sentence
Senegalese opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko was sentenced to two years in prison.
A court in Senegal has handed down a two-year prison sentence to the opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko. He was convicted of 'corrupting youth,' but cleared of rape charges. His supporters say the trial is aimed at stopping Mr. Sonko from standing in presidential elections in 2024.
Zimbabwe鈥檚 parliament has voted in favour of a bill that will punish citizens for what it describes as 'unpatriotic' acts. The controversial 'patriot clause' of the Criminal Act targets those who 'harm the national interest of Zimbabwe'. It will now go to the senate before it is signed into law.
And 'School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play,' is a new play written by Ghanaian-American, Jocelyn Bioh set in Ghana, in 1986 at the prestigious聽Aburi Girls' Boarding School. The story is set around a student, Paula and her friends who are anticipating the arrival of the recruiter for the Miss Ghana pageant.
