Senegal clashes after opposition leader sentenced
A court in Senegal has handed a two-year prison sentence to Ousmane Sonko.
A court in Senegal has handed down a two-year prison sentence to the opposition leader, Ousmane Sonko. He was convicted of 'corrupting youth,' but cleared of rape charges. His supporters say the trial is aimed at stopping Mr. Sonko from standing in presidential elections in 2024.
It's day three of the fuel scarcity that has dogged many Nigerian cities following the removal of fuel subsidies and the upward review of pump prices by the State oil company, NNPC.
Zimbabwe鈥檚 parliament has voted in favour of a bill that will punish citizens for what it describes as 'unpatriotic' acts. The controversial 'patriot clause' of the Criminal Act targets those who 'harm the national interest of Zimbabwe'. It will now go to the senate before it is signed into law.
