Monday: Superman had X Ray vision as well as a secret identity, so how about "Identity" by X Ray Spex.

Adam from Rio de Janeiro

I met Bryan in Perth @ the Auditions for "Rob Roy", we appeared on Scotland today later that day, I was the longest serving Camcast member and met: Mel Gibson, Robin Willaims, John Hurt, Tim Roth, Brian Cox, big Liam & Brendan etc. All very personable, the bigger the star the nicer they are, but none more affable than oor Bryan.

Rab Welsh from Dunfermline

Donna (w/Bryan) from Charleston West Virginia

Almost forgot, Iron Man by Black Sabbath for Monday.

Adam from Rio de Janeiro

Superheroes: "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" - Jim Croce (Superman). "(I Saw) Batman In The Launderette" - The Shapes (perhaps one for Dr Disc - although I do have the single somewhere). My daughter suggests "Everyday Superhero" - Smash Mouth. "Spiderman" - The Ramones. "Land of Confusion" - Genesis (Superman). "One Week" (Aquaman) - Barenaked Ladies. "Batman" - Jan and Dean. "How I Wrote Elastic Man" - The Fall - don't think you've played The Fall before on GIO (pretty much a love em or hate em band...may fall foul of the swearie-word censor).

Julie from Edinburgh

NAUTICAL: "Farewell To Tarwathie" by Judy Collins (her voice is unaccompanied except for the sound of humpback whales...could be the strangest song played on GIO). "Sea The day" - D.Sea. Lee. "Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellen Bogen By the Sea" - Max Bygraves (perhaps that's one for Thursday). "Ships In The Night" - Be Bop Deluxe. "La Mer" - Charles Trenet.

Julie from Edinburgh

Monday - "Rockin Robin" - Michael Jackson, "Flash" - Queen, "Bat(man)out of Hell" - Meatloaf, "Something in the Air" - Thunderbirds Newman, "The Banner (Incredible Hulk) Man" - Blue Mink, "Cool for Cat(woman" - Squeeze.

EC from The North Sea

SUPERHEROES-Got to be Gigantor by The Dickies, " ready to fight for right against wrong"! Also Supergirl by Springbok Nude Girls, (a band from South Africa who should have achieved worldwide fame in Tommy's opinion)-it would make his night if you could play any of these Bryan.

Ali and the Winters from Bonnybridge

EC - Re "Rockin' Robin" (which I like)...do you think Bryan and his production team should differentiate between superheroes and their sidekicks (strictly speaking Robin was a sidekick and not a hero)? Should they include comic book villians?...if so, that would preclude "The Joker" or something by LUTHER Vandross? Just a thought :-)

Julie from Edinburgh

Tuesday: Suspect loadsa folk will suggest "Yellow Submarine" so here are 2 heart-rendering alternatives - Kate and Anna's "Heart like a Wheel" (includes the line...My love for you is like a sinking ship...) or "The Water is Wide" - mebbe Eva Cassidy's version and we can then all greet into our cuppas.

Madhu from Dunblane

Superheroes: anything by John Cooper Clarke and the Invisible Girls would fit the bill? "I Married a Monster from Outer Space" or "Readers' Wives". Beats the swearie-word censor, but maybe not the censor per se. Stuart Copeland from the Police recorded as an alter-ego "Clark Kent" round about the time they started out, but I don't think he was any better than The Police were. What about "Human Fly" by The Cramps? Would that count?

Harry from Gatehoose

Trying to catch up on what I missed last week and the same old thought came up - it would be so much easier if there was a link to the programme page (playlists and play again) from the blog page. You've got one the other way after all! Any chance of adding this in?

John from Inverness

Julie - now your splitting hairs. Robin took his fair share of Zoks and Capows to be classed as a superhero.

EC from The North Sea

The GardenParty stand on a "Manifesto" of fine music for all, as long as u all love Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry! No "Trash" please, only high quality choons "For you pleasure", Ye can rest serenley in Yer "Pyjamaramas, dreaming of "the same old scene" & customising your ready made playlist. GardenpartyPaul from east of Eden, west of.... carrickfergus

Having now established myself as a "regular" listener I must thank Harry for that mix! Listening to "God Save the Queen" I was transported back to a school trip to France from Plockton High School in the mid 80's. "Anyone have a good tape (long time ago!)" says the teacher - one of the boys - Gordon from Lochcarron, was a big fan of the Sex Pistols so he gave the driver his tape to put on. Needless to say that the tape was confiscated and put into the teacher's bag by the time we had reached Durinish Bridge - approx 2 miles down the road and stayed there for the duration of the trip! Great memories!!

Susan from Inverness

Long song titles - Millennium by Robbie Williams. A 1000 year long song title. Sorry guys, couldn't resist!

kirsty from killie

Ahoy there! How about "It Must be Luff" by Michelle Shocked (Captain Swing album). Sailors will get the pun in the title ;-)

John G from Strathblane

Short song title: "As" by Stevie Wonder Long song title: "When You Find the Girl of Your Dreams in the Arms of Some Scotsmen from Hull," mentioned on the inner sleeve of The Rutles album (OK, Hull isn't in Scotland, and the song doesn't actually exist, but I take every opportunity to mention the Rutles!)

Bruce Nesmith from Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Maybe you've had enough of me this week, but... Naval theme: "Ship Song" by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds Short titles: the Swiss feminist punk band Kleenex did a double A-side in the late 70s, one side being the fairly brief "You", the other being the even briefer "U" (with an umlaut (two dots o). Difficult to beat, or even equal!

Harry from Gatehoose

Holy Polaris EC! - I agree with you - was just wondering if they'd be strict with the superhero theme. Of course Robin took his fair share of the thwacks and zowies - and he was good at handing-out the shark-repellent bat spray too!

Julie from Edinburgh

SHORT TITLES: "Weak" - Skunk Anansie, "WOW!" - Kate Bush, "Serious" - Richard Hawley, "ELT" - Wilco, "Peaches" - The Presidents Of The United States of America (short title - long band name). LONG TITLES: "Blue Moon Revisited (Song for Elvis)" - Cowboy Junkies, "My Definition of a Boombastic Jazz Theme" - Dream Warriors, "Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)" - Scritti Politti, "Trust Me To Open My Mouth" - Squeeze, "I Can't Wait To Get Off Work (And See My Baby On Montgomery Avenue)" - Tom Waits, "We'll Sweep Out The Ashes In The Morning" - Gram Parsons.

Julie from Edinburgh

A wee snatch of the theme from Captain Pugwash wouldn't go amiss tonight!

Adam from Rio de Janeiro

The Leighton Buzzards (who went on to become Modern Romance) had some quite long song titles: "Saturday Night Beneath The Plastic Palm Trees", "I Don't Want To Go To Art School", "No Dry Ice Or Flying Pigs" or "If You Love Me Say Yes If You Don't Say No".

Julie from Edinburgh

For Tuesday:The Drifters - On tHe boardwalk, David Gray - Sail Away, Mark Knopfler & James Taylor - Sailing to Philadelphia, The Honey Drippers- Sea of Love, Big Country - Ships. For Wed:- Sarah MacLachlan - Adia, Big Country - Chance or Alone, The Smiths - Ask, Semisonic - DND. For Thursday - Please play The Cardigans - 'I need some fine wine and you, you need to be nicer' as it is a great song that did not get enough recognition a couple of years ago. Alternatively - The Smiths - 'Stop Me if you think you've heard this one before', Barenaked Ladies - It's only me (The Wizard of Magicland), Bob Dylan - Quinn The eskimo (The Mighty Quinn)

Stephen from Invergordon

Bryan for your nautical theme on Tuesday how about the following three? The Irish Rover by the Pogues and the Dubliners a great version of an excellent folk song. The Tide is High - from Blondie speaks for itself! And from the great Canadian Folk singer Gordon Lightfoot - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, a song that raises the hairs on the back of my neck.

Martin from Dunfermline

Thursday: Pink Floyd "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict" (from Umagumma)

EC from The North Sea

What about Night Boat to Cairo by Madness or Over the Sea by Jessie Rae, Bryan?

Alan Hughes from Irvine

The Wickerman Festival: An apology It has been brought to my attention that in my submission for Monday night's show I appeared to cast doubt on the quality of the line-up for this year's Wickerman Festival. I would like to stress that, whilst I may have stated that the line-up "left me cold", this was a reference to the shiver of excitement that went up my spine on hearing who would be there. It is a class festival, and has a great, relaxed feel (no matter what the line-up!). Maybe this could be a venue for a "Get It Ontogether"? If any other bloggers are going, hows about a meet (and a drink) somewhere? Harry

Harry from Gatehoose

Thursday: The Orb: "A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld"

Harry from Gatehoose

For Thursday its got to be There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis by Kirsty MacColl.

Jon from London

Wednesday short titles - Why? by Bronski Beat

Jon from London

Wednesday - Don't by Elvis, Hush by Deep Purple and surely a contender for shortest song title: X by Springbok Nude Girls(this might be a challenge for Dr. Disc)

Ali and the Winters from Bonnybridge

You were surprised by Procol Harem...Can I suggest that "The Secret of the Hive"...their geatest hits is a constant on my player...you should enjoy.

Alex. Carmichael from Cumbernauld

Its all gone quiet on the Getiton-Together front, Harry. My original suggestion was somewhere in Edinburgh on the 17th of July. Location? Well, The Cafe Royal is big enough and near the station. Also, as far as I remember, it doesnt have a juke box so that'll avoid cat fights between the likes of Julie and Maria. Maybe BB needs to open a section on the Blog and gather opinions.

Adam Reid from Rio de Janeiro

Another long title - "How Could You Believe Me When I Said I loved You When You Know I've Been a Liar All My Life" - Bing Crosby?...Fred Astaire?

Julie from Edinburgh

Long titles, what about "I Married a Monster (from outer space) by John Cooper Clarke or The Smiths "Please, Please, Please Let me get what I want tonight" or one I suggested for the Nautical night "Ship arriving too late to save a drowning witch" by Frank Zappa.

Bobby from Howwod

Harry...Which Julie are you talking about?(there are at least three of us I think)...and there would be nothing but sweetness and light at any get-together (which, let's face it, probably will never happen in a million years - not even a teetotal do on the Â鶹Éç roof with the firm of "B.Burnett's Scrumptious Sandwich Co" providing the catering!). having said that though, it might be fun.

Julie from Edinburgh

Friday long titles ... Weighing in at a massive 52 words and 305 characters long (!) it's from Swedish group Rednex, and entitled 'The sad but true story of Ray Mingus, the lumberjack of bulk rock city, and his never slacking stribe in exploiting the so far undiscovered areas of the intention to bodily intercourse from the opposite species of his kind, during intake of all the mental condition that could be derived from fermentation' ... wonder why it never charted! Could also offer another wierd one from zany (countryish) Ray Stevens ...'Jeremiah Peabody's polyunsaturated, quick-dissolving, fast-acting, pleasant-tasting, green and purple pills' ... wonder how the chorus goes? However, to bring a bit of sanity back to this, am offering the following 2 for consideration: 'You can make me dance, sing or anything (even take the dog for a walk, mend a fuse, fold away the ironing board, or any other domestic shortcomings) ... by Rod & the Faces. Surely the longest title of any song that has charted!? or hows about 'I never want an easy life if me and he were ever to get there' by The Charlatans ... 15 words, no brackets or parenthasis! It's been an education this one ...

Kene Gelly from Dumfries

Long Song Titles:- From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea - The Cure, I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You/I Don't Wanna Go Down to the Basement - Ramones, Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd, Please Please Please Let me Get What I Want - The Smiths, Never Gonna Tell You What To Do(Revolution) - Cast, Just Like Nothing on Earth/Waiting for the Men in Black - Stranglers, I Just Can't Be Happy Today - The Damned.

Ali and the Winters from Bonnybridge

Sorry Harry...I should have directed my last post to Adam.

Julie from Edinburgh

LIVE VERSIONS: Don't suppose my mixtape will be used so I'll mention the 2 live tracks from that list: "Ain't That A Shame" by Cheap Trick (Live at Budokan). It has a pretty slow start but builds up really well, with some great guitar and some great screaming from the audience too. Pity we don't hear much from Cheap Trick apart from "I Want You To Want Me" (which incidentally is covered very well by "Letters to Cleo"). "AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie" is played more often on radio but still must be one of the best live tracks ever. The "Angus" chants during the intro are definitely Scottish-accented as it was recorded at the Glasgow Apollo. I'm very glad I saw them (in Edinburgh) on what must have been the same tour, while Bon Scott was still around. "Rock and Roll Damnation" is another favourite but I think "Rosie" just pips it. Looking forward to this show, with, I bet, loads of good live tracks suggested.

Julie from Edinburgh

Julie - not guilty! It was Adam from Rio that suggested catfights, I was only suggesting a wickertogethergetitonman rendezvous for anyone going to the festival in July. Cafe Royal sounds good too though!

Harry from Gatehoose

Harry/Adam. The Voodoo Rooms, above the Cafe Royal, is a music venue.

Julie from Edinburgh

Don't think I can do Edinburgh on July 17th, but I will certainly be wandering round a field in Dundrennan on weekend of the 28th! Seriously, a Get It On tent at any of the smaller festivals would be a blast for next year. Over to you, Bryan.....
