Nollaig Chridheil! (Merry Christmas!)

It鈥檚 early on Christmas morning 鈥︹ very early! For the first time in ages, Munro is excited. The mask of coolness has slipped and he鈥檚 desperate to get Seanair up so the presents can get unwrapped! Listen to this conversation 鈥 you might be able to use these phrases on Christmas morning.

Munro and Seanair on christmas day.

Munro Nollaig Chridheil!!
Merry Christmas!!
Seanair D猫 an uair a tha e?
What time is it?
Munro Tha e leth-uair an d猫idh c貌ig 鈥. 猫irichibh!!
It鈥檚 half past five 鈥. get up!!
Seanair Tha e ro thr脿th fhathast!
It鈥檚 too early yet!
Munro Chan eil idir. 鈥橲 e latha na Nollaig a tha ann!
No, it isn鈥檛. It鈥檚 Christmas Day!
Seanair Tha fios agam ach tha e ro thr脿th!
I know but it is too early!
Now listen to their conversation.

You鈥檒l recognise a few of the phrases in that conversation, especially those dealing with the time. Munro uses the word 猫irichibh to tell Seanair to 鈥淕et up!鈥 At least he used the polite form. If you want to tell someone to get up and it鈥檚 someone you know well, you鈥檇 just shout 猫irich! The word ro is very useful 鈥 it can be used to emphasise something is too much of one thing.
