D猫 bha thu a鈥 d猫anamh? (What were you doing?)

Do you remember how to express the past tense so that you can tell someone what you were doing? You would replace the word 鈥淭ha鈥 (for the present tense) or 鈥淏idh鈥 (future tense), with the word 鈥淏ha鈥. Listen to Munro and Morag discussing what they were up to yesterday.

Munro and Morag discussing what they were up to yesterday.

Munro D猫 bha thu a鈥 d猫anamh 补苍-诲猫?
What were you doing yesterday?
Morag Bha mi a鈥 ceannach rudan anns na b霉than.
I was buying things in the shops.
Munro Bha mi a鈥 coiseachd air an d霉thaich.
I was walking in the countryside.
Morag An robh thu a鈥 faicinn m貌ran?
Did you see/Were you seeing much?
Munro Bha. Bha mi a鈥 cleachdadh prosbaig.
Yes. I was using binoculars.
Morag Bha sin feumail.
That was useful.
Now listen to their conversation.

Hopefully you鈥檝e noticed, during the lesson, that you can put words at the end of sentences like 鈥淏ha mi a鈥 cleachdadh鈥︹ or 鈥淭ha mi a鈥 d猫anamh 鈥︹ This means that instead of just saying something like 鈥淚 was singing鈥, you can say 鈥淚 was singing a song鈥.
