Today's report: Frozen in time | Après sea

Frozen in time

The weather gets worse (and temporarily claims a crew casualty) as the team travels back to the Svalbard coast.

There's history to explore at the deserted settlement of Smeerenburg, known as Blubber Town, from where whaling boats once set sail.

It was hot air balloons that launched from nearby Virgohamna around the turn of the 20th century, as explorers vied to be first to fly to the pole.

Après sea

As the expedition end looms into view, sound and camera operators Ian Kellett and Mike Kasic take their first dip in the on-board hot tub following a series of long days working in subzero temperatures.
