Vivek Chaudhary, journalist for The Independent, describes his chance meeting with Mike Ashley where the Newcastle owner suggested manager Alan Pardew had "one more game", adding “If we lose against Stoke on Monday night then he’s gone. I have had enough.” The quotes were downplayed on Friday by Ashley's lawyer as a joke "intended to be tongue-in-cheek".
