Retailer WHSmith has put its strong high street performance in 2016 down to sales of adult colouring books. Adrian Greenwood is Deputy Managing Director of Michael O’Mara books, one of the adult colouring book suppliers of WHSmith. He told 5 live Money’s Colletta Smith that colouring book sales “outstripped other areas, such as fiction”. Adrian went on to say books, which are marketed as colour therapy relaxation aids, "hit the right note with consumers” who wanted to take breaks from other recreational activities, like watching TV.
